There are hundreds of international airports in the UK that are world class and handle millions of passengers and thousands of flights every single year. One of the major airports in UK is Heathrow Airport. Heathrow Airport is the busiest airport in the whole world handing about 65 million passengers every year and flies them to major destinations around the world. Planes take off from Heathrow Airport and fly to about 170 major destinations around the world. There are plans to expand the airport as the existing facilities and runways arent able to handle the ever increasing landings and take off of planes and the huge passenger traffic.

The London City Airport is said to be a better option than Heathrow Airport. This is because it has better facilities for passengers and is also very clean. The London City Airport is situated in central London and is just situated just a few miles from Westminster. The airport handles more of business flights throughout the UK. Also the flights take off from here to major financial hubs of UK. The other airport not too far from London is the Gatwick airport. London itself has about airports. Hence we can imagine the number of people coming from and leaving the city every single day.

Amongst the midland airports are Birmingham International Airport which handles flights to major destinations in the UK and the US. Then there is the Coventry Airport, the East Midlands Airport and the Norwich Airport. All these airports are well connected by trains so that you can reach the airports quickly. Let's move onto airports in the northern part of UK. Some of the major airports on the northern side of UK are the Liverpool and the Manchester Airport. Other famous airports are Newcastle, Sheffield and Blackpool. The Manchester Airport is the busiest airport in the northern region. Coming to the southern side of England, the most famous airports are Bristol, Southampton, Gloucester and Norwich. Bristol is the most famous airport with good facilities for the tourist and handling a good number of flights throughout the UK. The Southampton airport is very well connected by all means of transport and is one of the easiest airports to reach within a short period of time. In case of airports in Scotland Glasgow International Airport is the most famous handling a large number of flights daily. Then there is the Edinburgh Airport and the Prestwick International Airport. There is a good amount of competition between Edinburgh and the two Glasgow airports in terms of facilities offered and the number of flights that they can handle.

There are two airports in Wales. They are Cardiff and the Swansea. Both these airport are open to commercial traffic. There are three major airports in the Channel Islands viz: Jersey, Guernsey and the Alderney Airport. These airports handle passenger traffic to and from the Channel Islands which have become increasingly popular for the tourists from all parts of the UK and the world. Jersey is the best airport of the three.
